Description Framed black and white photograph portrait of Aaron Thompson, first Superintendant of the Woburn Gas Works; wooden frame with gold inscribed corners, oval inset for photo.
Notes The Woburn Gas Company was established in August 1854; a gas works was built in 1855. It began making and distributing gas in 1856 and remained mostly in local control until it closed in 1927. The plant, later known as the Woburn Gas Light Company, was located for many years on the south side of Fowle Street, west of the old railroad line.
