Admin/Biographical History Joseph H. Linnell was born in Orleans, Massachusetts on January 25, 1836. From the age of twelve to nineteen he earned his living on the sea before he went to Charlestown, MA and served three years with S.C. Pollard and Company to learn the currier's trade. He came to Woburn with the firm in 1854 and continued in their employ for thirteen years, except while serving in the 5th Massachusetts Regiment Company G (Woburn Mechanic Phalanx), enlisting as a Private on August 23, 1862 and mustering out on July 2, 1863. After his service he became a prominent Woburn leather manufacturer. Joseph Linnell passed away on April 10, 1916.
