Admin/Biographical History Gawin Riddle Gage, son of Benjamin S. and Annis (Moor) Gage was born in Bedford, N.H. on January 26, 1819. Gage first lived in Woburn at the age of seventeen when employed by Mr. Tallman Seeley as a tailor. After a year he left Woburn to attend the academy in Hancock, NH. He returned to Woburn in 1841 and a year later bought out Sealey's business and took on a partner, James Leonard Fowle. A few years later this partnership dissolved and Frederic A. Flint joined the firm. Gage was connected with the Woburn Five Cents Savings Bank, was a director in both the Woburn Gas Light Co. and was a deacon at the First Congregational Church. He was town treasurer for thirty-three consecutive years. He passed away on November 25, 1892.
Scope & Content 2 photograph albums. 1. K891: album containing 40 photographs of residents of Woburn; civilian and military men during the War period, 1860-1865. 2. K891a: contains 22 photographs of Woburn civilians and soldiers, houses and scenic landscapes.
