Admin/Biographical History Kiwanis of Woburn was founded in 1947. The Woburn Kiwanis Club Good-will Project in Japan was reported on by Thomas McGowan, a Librarian at the Woburn Public Library from November 3, 1942 - February 4, 1964 and an honorary Kiwanis Club member. After McGowan's chance meeting at the library with Kozo Sekido, a Japanese student at Boston University, and their subsequent friendship and attendance at a Kiwanis Club dinner, the Woburn Kiwanis Club Good-will Project in Japan was initiated in the summer of 1952. This project, sponsored by the Boys and Girls Committee of the Kiwanis, included an exchange of gifts and cross-cultural communication between Woburn and Uenoharra, Yamanshi Prefecture, Japan. The report discusses the project through November 29, 1955.
