Admin/Biographical History The Rumford Historical Association was founded on March, 26, 1877, the 124th anniversary of Count Rumford's (Benjamin Thompson's) birth. The organization was formed to preserve the house and birthplace in Woburn of Count Rumford and "to collect and preserve for exhibition or use, books, manuscripts, objects of antiquarian interest, and whatever may illustrate the life and times, and perpetuate the memory, of the distinguished man whose title is prominently associated with our organization." Today the Rumford Historical Association continues to own and maintain his house and a museum at 90 Elm Street in North Woburn Massachusetts.
